Ardrossan Castle Carnival 2017 73, Castle Hill                                                                                              17 June 2017

The first Ardrossan Castle Carnival was held on 18 June 2016 to commemorate the meeting of the Privy Council in Ardrossan exactly 470 years earlier on 18 June 1546. The Privy Council was the equivalent of the Cabinet of the Scottish Government. The meeting was chaired by Lord James Hamilton, regent to the four-year-old Mary, Queen of Scots, and effective King of Scotland. The second Carnival was held on 17 June 2017. The celebrations were hosted by Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society whose secretary, Amanda Simpson, is shown in the photograph.
