Ardrossan Castle Carnival 2016 58, Castle Hill 18

The first Ardrossan Castle Carnival was held on 18 June 2016 to commemorate
the meeting of the Privy Council in Ardrossan exactly 470 years earlier on 18
June 1546. The Privy Council was the equivalent of the Cabinet of the Scottish
Government. The meeting was chaired by Lord James Hamilton, regent to the four-year-old
Mary, Queen of Scots, and effective King of Scotland. The celebration was hosted
by Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society.
In the presence of members and friends of Ardrossan Castle Heritage Society
and children playing the parts of members of the Privy Council and owners of
Ardrossan Castle, North Ayrshire Council
Provost Joan Sturgeon unveiled
the viewpoint sign.
