In the 1970s, Bute Service Centre was located in Bute
Place.
Construction of the
new Bute Service Centre
started on 10 August 2009. It opened on
12 October 2009.
Between 20 and 22 January 2010, Bute Service
Centre was used to record part of a drama called The Deep which was shown on
BBC television in August 2010. The drama followed
the exploits of a submarine crew as they searched for new life forms thousands
of feet below the Arctic circle. Actors involved included Minnie Driver,
James
Nesbitt and Goran Visnjic. The crew returned to Bute Service Centre between
7 and 9 February 2010.
