What is thought to be the first ever wedding in Ardrossan Castle took place on Saturday 5 August 2017. Peter Semple and Sandra Gain of Irvine were married by Emma Gillan, North Ayrshire Council registrar, shown above left. The Castle was inhabited between the 1100s and 1600s and some of the nobility who resided there would have had weddings. These would most likely have been held in the nearby church whose ruins are still visible. Although there are no records to prove it, the wedding could well have been the first in the Castle.
