Construction work started on 8 August 2005.

The Dairymead Gardens site was occupied by the High Tide Hotel from the late 1960s to the mid 1990s. In the 1940s and early 1950s, it was the site of Ross's Dairy. Before that, it was Parkhouse Farm.
