Millglen Reservoir 1                                                                                                                                31 October 2003

Millglen Reservoir was officially opened on 30 October 1914 according to the report below from the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald of 6 November 1914.

The opening ceremony in connection with the addition of the new Mill Glen Reservoir to the town's water supply took place on Friday last (30 October 1914). The weather was of the most boisterous nature and prevented many from gracing the ceremony with their presence. We have had frequent opportunities of late of inspecting the work at the new reservoir now completed and in use at Mill Glen and which will now place consumers beyond all fear of scarcity for many a year to come in respect of the water supply of the district. Some time ago, we gave a lengthened description of the works which are distant about two miles from the town on the old parish road leading past Mr Henderson's farm on past Busbie and Munnoch Farms to Dalry so we need not now describe the surroundings at any great length.
