When the Queen's Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games passed through Ardrossan on 15 July 2014, there was a community celebration on South Beach. The entertainment was hosted by Radio Clyde disc jockey Gina McKie.

South Beach is also featured in HMS Dasher Memorial, Putting Green and War Memorial.
