When the Queen's Baton Relay for the Commonwealth Games passed through Ardrossan on 15 July 2014, there was a community celebration on South Beach. From left to right, the ladies are Gina McKie, Radio Clyde disc jockey and entertainment host; Linda Cusack, final North Ayrshire Baton bearer; Joan Sturgeon, Provost of North Ayrshire Council and Elma Murray, Chief Executive of North Ayrshire Council.

South Beach is also featured in HMS Dasher Memorial, Putting Green and War Memorial.
